As a farmer, Mike Donovan had an enthusiasm for low cost, low impact farming which he believed was generally ignored by advisors and their clients. Having been in publishing he decided to crate a format for like-thinking people. There's no rule book, no committees, no "members must", but instead a magazine which many claim to read from cover to cover!
Many consultants advise 'scaling up' to spread the costs over a bigger acreage. Investment for the future with bigger, new machinery. We like to find the people who do it differently. They are often happy in their work.
